The California Senior Legislature (CSL) is comprised of dedicated community volunteers representing all 58 counties in the state. Their primary mission is to gather ideas for model legislation for consideration at the State and Federal levels. CSL members craft these ideas into formal proposals, prioritize and present them to the Legislature or Congress, and advocate for laws that improve the quality of life for aging Californians.
CSL has a 35-year history of advocating for seniors’ rights. To date, more than 200 proposals have been signed into law improving the lives of California seniors. For example: as of January 1st, 2016, Silver Alerts will now be broadcast on California highway signs to alert the public that a senior citizen has gone missing.
By state law, our organization is 100% funded by donations gathered from state tax returns – if we don’t raise $250,000 by April 18th, we will cease to exist. That’s right – if we don’t hit our mark, by state law we will be dropped from the rolls of senior advocacy organizations.
Help us by doing the following things:
1. Tell your tax preparer that you want to donate to the California Senior Legislature Fund
(Code 427) on 2015 State Income Tax Return. We’re asking for $10-$15 donations
per person – will you help?
