A Poignant January
Before succumbing to mid-Winter’s silent and often comforting sleep,
after a millennial rainstorm, and before the snows,
as Autumn did, in announcing her
resistance to its annual Death
with one last burst of color,
punched up scarlet, rich burnt
orange, shouting her self-acclaim before
finally dropping quietly into
Slumber;
So we too, must proclaim our existence!
Couched in the freedoms of 1776,
1865, and our Constitution,
pushing back against the grey shadows
of evil, despotic intent;
earthed in self-expression, huddling
together in strategic planning,
activity taken, as we lean
against
the freeze of
Fascism…
Fighting onward to a Spring and
Summer of hope and
actions;
leading, if you please, in spite of
cruelty, hardship, the armed
Thugs of rage and rampage, toward
an Autumnal celebration of our
nation’s cherished evolving mission:
which embraces All of us
with
Life, Liberty, and the
Pursuit of
Happiness….
