Mary Lunetta, Sierra Club’s Chief California Conservation Strategist
Presentation title: San Bernardino National Forest, the challenges it faces, and how local conservation efforts connect to the broader national policy landscape.
Mary Lunetta is Sierra Club’s Chief California Conservation Strategist, where she leads statewide efforts to protect and defend California’s national public lands. A public policy strategist and campaign leader with more than 20 years of experience, she has led advocacy campaigns spanning conservation, clean energy, transportation electrification, climate justice, and civil rights.
Before her time at Sierra Club, Mary has held leadership roles with the ACLU, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, and the California League of Conservation Voters. She holds a B.A. in Community Studies from UC Santa Cruz and a Master of Public Policy from Mills College.
Mary lives in Idyllwild, California, in the San Bernardino National Forest, with her husband and two children. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring public lands, photographing the natural world, and crafting herbal teas and botanical remedies through her apothecary, Wild + Craft.
