A visit with Operation Provider

Please note, the Mountain Bears Democratic Club has not endorsed any candidate yet. We welcome all candidates who wish to connect with our mountain community, and their appearances should not be interpreted as an endorsement.

We’re working to take back our seat from multi-millionaire Congressman Jay Obernolte and bring real representation back to our community. Paul Chakalian is one of four Democratic candidates running for CA-23.

Paul Chakalian visited Operation Provider in November. Parts of the “conversation” is posted on our facebook page. Below is Paul’s write up which highlights how our community is suffering—and why our mountain communities deserve to be heard.

For the first time in 37 years, Operation Provider won’t be able to provide turkeys for Thanksgiving. My campaign visited this invaluable community food bank to learn about the state of food insecurity in our district.

Operation Provider serves over 200 families per week in Lake Arrowhead, CA. When donated food runs low, families have to choose between a balanced diet or other essentials, like heat or medical care — or go hungry.

Thanks to generous donations from local markets and individuals, plus support from the USDA, Operation Provider has operated for over three decades and never once been unable to offer turkey, for Thanksgiving, until this year.

MAGA Congressman Jay Obernolte has not once visited this essential local charity. When DOGE cuts stopped the USDA food deliveries that Operation Provider was counting on, not a single person from the Congressman’s office reached out to see how they could help.

We believe that EVERYONE is entitled to food and shelter. In the wealthiest nation on earth, no one should go hungry. Our leaders are failing to take care of our most vulnerable, children, elderly, and hungry citizens who deserve so much better than Jay Obernolte and his out of touch politics.

To help Operation Provider, visit their website and consider making a cash donation to help them keep the lights on: https://operationprovider.org/index.html

In Solidarity,

Paul
