MEDICAID CUTS
California’s behemoth Medicaid program insures 14.9 million people, more than one-third of the state’s population. Republicans hold nine House seats in California and represent 2.5 million Medicaid enrollees. All nine voted to approve the House GOP budget bill at the end of February. Some of the state’s most conservative areas benefit disproportionately from Medicaid, including Rep Jay Obernolte’s dist. in San Bernardino County high desert where 48% of the population have Medicaid.

RAISE FOR THE RICH
The House voted on January 25 to pass a budget resolution that will provide the blueprint for a massive reconciliation bill. Democrats said the budget plan, passed by a 217-215 vote, cuts Medicaid to give billionaires a 4.5 Trillion $$ tax break. Calvert, Kim and Obernolte voted for the bill, while all House Democrats opposed it.
